SUMMER STAFF

Pocono Plateau is dedicated to the purpose of making disciples of Jesus Christ.  Each camper is challenged to commit his or her life to Christ and to grow in that relationship.  Each summer staff is a member of a team of servants.  It is important to realize that you are not just working at a job but fulfilling a role in ministry.  Summer staff are a tool in God’s hands as the Holy Spirit touches the lives of summer campers.   

The ministry of the paid summer staff is unique, challenging,and most of all rewarding!

As a Pocono Plateau staffer, you’ll receive:

  • Weekly compensation starting at:
    • $350 for Overnight Staff
    • $300 for Day Camp Counselors

Through your ministry of service and hospitality, children and teens will have their eyes opened to God in new and exciting ways.  You, too, will have the opportunity to find new meaning in your faith journey. We generally hire ages 18-25 for overnight staff. Overnight staff live together in separate housing. For Day Camp Counselors we hire ages 15-25. We have currently filled all of our Summer Staff spots.
Food Service

• Kitchen Assistants – Assist in food preparation, serving of meals, washing dishes and cleaning up after each meal, and general food service tasks. Our kitchen staff takes pride in their commitment to Christian hospitality and service to campers and staff. Kitchen Assistants may be asked to work in either Main Site or Adventure Site food service.

Program

• Program Staff – Provides leadership of program activities such as archery, fishing, nature, games, adventure challenge programs (ropes courses), music, etc.  Possibility of spending some weeks counseling – residing with and leading small camper groups in daily living activities including Bible studies.

• Day Camp Counselor – Guiding and engaging the Day Campers throughout each week, including; assisting in leading Bible Discovery, leading the campers throughout each of their activities each day, engaging and encouraging each camper to participate in all that camp has to offer.

• Waterfront Director / Program Staff – Oversees waterfront operations and provides safety for swimming and boating.  Supervises the lifeguard staff.  Assists in program leadership of activities such as canoeing, boating, games, adventure programs (ropes), music, etc. 

• Lifeguard / Program Staff – Provides waterfront safety for swimming and boating. Assists in program leadership of activities such as canoeing, boating, games, adventure programs (ropes), music, etc.

• Crafts Coordinator / Program Staff – Directs the craft program and is responsible for organizing, inventorying, and ordering needed supplies, and instructing campers in craft projects and activities. Assists in other program activities outside of craft time.

Nature Center Coordinator / Program Staff – Leads nature center curriculum activities with a thorough understanding of the Plateau’s hardwood forest and lake eco systems. Assists in other program activities outside of nature time.

Maintenance
  • Maintenance Assistants – Assist in all maintenance responsibilities including grounds keeping, minor building repairs, selected maintenance/improvement projects, and the delivery of services with the camp program.

YEAR ROUND POSITIONS

While Pocono Plateau Camp and Retreat Center’s largest volume of work is during the summer, we also have retreats and groups during our “off-season” from the end of August until Early June. These positions would operate during those times and during the summer months to assist the camp’s operations.

We are currently not hiring for year round positions.
