Guest Guidelines
- Alcohol, illegal drugs, fireworks, paintball guns & firearms are not permitted on Pocono Plateau property.
- Pocono Plateau is a smoke-free facility. Smoking (including e-cigarettes) is not permitted in any building or anywhere on the property. (If you must smoke, please do so on Pocono Plateau Road (township road), away from other guests.)
- Guests groups are not permitted to bring pets (service dogs, task performing, are exempt).
- Quite time hours are 10:30 pm – 7:00 am.
FACILITY GUIDELINES
- Candle burning is not permitted in any building (including meeting rooms).
- Cooking is not permitted in any lodge or meeting room (except Gate House & Chalet). This includes crock-pots, electric frying pans, tabletop oven, & microwaves.
- Cooking in the indoor fireplaces is not permitted (including s'mores & hot dogs).
- Food & drink can be consumed in meeting rooms only, not in bedrooms.
- Furniture is not to be moved from the rooms that they occupy, if additional chairs or tables are needed, please inform the camp staff.
- Please do not hang any item on painted wall, doors, or door frames. The use of thumbtacks, nails, tape & sticky tack leaves holes and adhesive residue that stains and discolors surfaces.
BOATING GUIDELINES
- Boating is at your own risk. It is strongly advised that the guest group provide a lifeguard certified by a nationally recognized provider (including CPR and first aid) for boating supervision.
- ONLY Pocono Plateau watercraft is permitted in order to prevent lake cross-contamination.
- Rowboats and canoes may be use when weather conditions permit.
- Children and youth must be supervised by an adult.
- Everyone must wear life jackets regardless of age.
- Boating is permitted only during daylight hours.
- Follow ALL posted boating rules. For your safety, please do not stand up in boats, transfer to another boat, or crash boats together. No more than three persons in a rowboat and no more than two persons in a canoe.
- Swimming is not permitted during the retreat season.
FISHING GUIDELINES
- Pennsylvania law requires all persons age 16 and older that fish to have a Pennsylvania fishing license.
- Catch & Release Fishing is permitted either from a boat or the shore at Pocono Plateau Lake. Please do not fish near the swimming area (between the dam & boat shed) or carry fishing equipment through the beach area. Fishing is only permitted from the shore at Beaver Lake.
SAFETY GUIDELINES
- Guest groups are responsible for providing their participants with first aid. Pocono Plateau does not provide first aid services, supplies, or equipment to guests.
- It is strongly advised that the guest group provide a person certified by a nationally recognized provider in CPR, AED and first aid.
- Guests must provide their own transportation for medical care, if needed. The local hospital is Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg, about 35 minutes away.
- All sleeping facilities are equipped with smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Contact camp staff immediately, if alarm is sounding.
