Food Service & Hospitality Manager

Position Overview

Pocono Plateau is a year-round Christian facility located in the heart of Eastern Pennsylvania Pocono Mountains. The Plateau operates camp programs for the summer season, mainly in June, July and part of August. In the months surrounding summer we host our own events along with guest groups that come to the site for retreats, outdoor education experiences and day events.

The Food Service & Hospitality Manager is responsible for meal planning and cooking, inventory and ordering, summer staff management, and housekeeping oversight. This role is part of a vital ministry of Christian hospitality to make every guest feel welcomed and loved.

This position is a non-exempt role eligible for overtime during summer months or busy times.

Food Service Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and serve meals within a set budget for overnight summer camp and retreat guests
• Create meal plans with special attention and accomodations for food allergies and dietary needs
• Maintain food service inventory system and supervise receipt of inventory from vendors
• Regular cleaning and upkeep of food service equipment
• Manage summer staff kitchen assistants and recruiting for off season kitchen support
• Ensure adherence to food safety standards and regulations

Hospitality Responsibilities

• Order and stock all housekeeping supplies
• Clean or manage staff to clean Springer Dining Hall
• Coordinate cleaning needs of lodging and meeting spaces, involving assigning cleaning duties, providing oversight of cleaning support staff, and assisting in cleaning camp spaces one day a week during retreat season.

General Responsibilities

The Food Service & Hospitality Manager will attend weekly staff meetings and quarterly Site Committee meetings as well as periodic training and development classes.

Job Requirements

This role requires team spirit and willingness to jump in as needed to provide support for the success of the center. The candidate should have good communication skills and be comfortable engaging with guests to foster a warm, inviting dining experience. The candidate should be organized, work autonomously, and able to manage their time.

The ideal candidate must be:

• ServSafe certified (if needed, this can be completed during hiring process)
• Have 2+ years of experience, preferably in a supervisory role. Our dining hall serves groups from 12-150, depending on the group and the season.
• PA Child Clearance Documentation is required
• Proficient in basic computer programs
